PROGRAM: Carnival and art display

Luna Luna is an art amusement park that first emerged in Hamburg, Germany in 1987. Packed away into shipping containers and rediscovered in Texas, IT re-emerged in Los Angeles to bring the unique carnival experience back to life. Artists include Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Favid Hockney, and more.

Featuring rides, displays, and interactive experiences, the carnival was rebuilt inside a production studio — also designed by BDG — in the Boyle Heights neighborhood. BDG’s scope included acquiring a change of use permit for the building, and ensuring the carnival/art show met accessibility codes.
