PROGRAM: Master plan and conceptual design for a multi-use community recreation space

Recinto Ferial San Fernando de Henares

A transformative urban intervention designed to redefine the public gathering experience for the city of San Fernando de Henares. Positioned at the edge of the Manzanares River, this project embraces the natural landscape while providing a dynamic, multifunctional space for community engagement, cultural expression, and recreation.

A dynamic, multi-use public space designed for community interaction, leisure, and cultural expression. At its heart, Fair & Event Spaces offer adaptable pavilions for markets and celebrations, while an Outdoor Stage & Performance Area serves as a cultural hub with amphitheater seating overlooking the Manzanares River.

Integrated Green & Recreational Spaces provide shaded retreats, walking trails, and ecological buffers, enhancing biodiversity. Playgrounds & Family Zones foster inclusive play, while Sports Facilities accommodate casual and competitive games. A well-placed Parking Area ensures accessibility while prioritizing pedestrian-friendly design.

Situated on a 61,685-square-meter lot, the project leverages its strategic location at the intersection of urban life and nature. The adjacency to the river provides an opportunity to integrate water-sensitive design strategies, promoting sustainability and ecological preservation while enhancing the visitor experience. The design fosters a strong connection between the built environment and the surrounding landscape, ensuring the space remains a natural extension of the city’s public realm.
